Question:

Should I put a groundsheet protector (tarp) under my bell tent?

Answer:

Putting a ground sheet protector under your bell tent can help to protect the bottom of the tent from moisture and damage. However, it is important to make sure that the tarp does not extend beyond the edges of the tent, as this can create a "bathtub" effect that can trap water underneath the tent. Therefore, just purchase the size of the groundsheet that is the same size of your bell tent. For example: a 5m bell tent will only require a 5m ground sheet protector.

Question:

Do bell tents have electricity?

Answer:

Majority of bell tents do not come with electricity as a standard feature, but it is possible to add electrical components like lights, fans, and heaters with the use of a power source such as a portable generator or a campsite hook-up. All of our bell tents have an access point for electrical hookup so wires and electrical wiring can go through a slot into the bell tent keeping the space tidy and safe.

Question:

Can you sleep in a bell tent in the winter?

Answer:

Bell tents can be used in the winter, although they may require additional insulation and heating to keep them warm and comfortable. A way to do this is to partner a polycotton/canvas or fire retardant tent with a woodburning stove for additional heat inside the bell tent.

Question:

Question:

What is the advantage of a bell tent?

Answer:

One of the main advantages of a bell tent is its tent design, which offers several benefits over other types of tents. Bell tents are spacious and roomy, with high walls that create a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. They are also easy to set up and take down, making them a popular choice for both experienced and novice campers.

Another advantage of the bell tent design is its stability in windy conditions. The round shape and low profile of the tent help it to withstand strong winds, which can be a concern with other tent designs. Additionally, our bell tents are made with durable and high-quality materials, such as heavy-duty canvas or polyester, which can help to ensure that they last for many camping trips to come.

The tent design of a bell tent also allows for excellent ventilation and airflow, which can be crucial for staying comfortable on hot and humid days. All of our bell tents have features like mesh windows and vents that can be opened or closed as needed, allowing campers to control the amount of fresh air that enters the tent.

Overall, the tent design of our bell tents, offer several advantages that make it a popular choice for camping (or glamping!) enthusiasts. Whether you're looking for a spacious and comfortable tent that can withstand the elements, or simply want a tent that's easy to set up and take down, a Boutique Camping bell tent is definitely worth considering.

Question:

Where is my order?

Answer:

You should receive a confirmation once the order has been placed. When it is then dispatched, you should receive a confirmation with a tracking link provided. If you have not received this, please get in contact with our Customer Service Team via live chat or fill out the contact form where one of our agents will assist.

We apologise for any inconvenience if this is taking longer than advised.

Question:

Are your tents waterproof and do they need to be weathered?

Answer:

All of our bell tents have been treated with a waterproofing agent on them which will cause the water on the surface to ‘bead’ after a downpour. You will literally see beads of water forming on the outer surface of the canvas. When it is time to reproof, you will notice that the water no longer beads, and that the bell tent retains the moisture in the canvas for longer.

Please see the article on how to clean and reproof your tent here.

With canvas in general, weathering can be quite a normal process due to the nature of the fabric. Weathering is when the bell tent can sometimes experience a couple of minor leaks on the first use or so, once this happens, after the tent has completely dried the fibres in the fabric will become watertight, which will prevent any further leaks occurring in the future - until it's time to reproof. Therefore, they will not need to be weathered, but a few small leaks on the first couple of uses will be totally natural. If this does continue afterwards, please contact us via our contact form and we can advise the next steps.

Question:

Do you have your tents on display?

Answer:

Unfortunately, we don’t have any physical stores or showrooms as we are online based. However, if you would like to see any additional photos to help you decide which tent is best for you, please get in contact via our contact form

We would advise checking out our Facebook page or Instagram, where you will find 100's of tent images taken by ourselves, traders and customers.

Question:

Do you have any fabric swatches?

Answer:

Yes, we do have swatches for all of our fabric options. This includes: Canvas, Canvas Lite, Oxford/Weekender and Fire Retardant. If you would like fabric samples, please fill out the contact form with your full address details and which samples you would like and we can arrange to send them:

Question:

Do you hire out your tents?

Answer:

Unfortunately, we no longer hire out our tents. We sell our ex-hire and ex-demo tents on the below link however: link

Question:

Do you offer any discounts on your tents?

Answer:

We would highly recommend subscribing to our newsletter via our website so that you can receive emails from us and keep up to date with discounts that we will have in place, as we have some exciting offers coming very soon.

We also offer a trade discount seasonally. These discounts normally begin from October and run through until the end of December and depends on order quantity. Therefore, if you are looking for a trade discount, please contact us between October - December. Remember, the earlier your tents are purchased, the better the discount!

Question:

Does my bell tent come with a warranty?

Answer:

Yes, but not just the tents, all of our products are covered by a 12-months manufacturer warranty. However, if you have surpassed this timescale, please still get into contact with us and we will always look to help.

Question:

How do you prevent mildew?

Answer:

Maintenance and upkeep is essential to prolong the lifespan of the canvas. We highly advise making sure the tent is completely bone dry before packing away, to prevent mould from developing in the canvas as this can be tricky to get rid of. Any damp or wet conditions can cause this to develop, so please make sure the tent is completely dry before storing away. You can see below for our maintenance guide on how to care for your tent to ensure it stays in it's best way possible:link

Question:

Do your bell tents have a wind speed rating?

Answer:

Generally, if there's going to be high winds of around 45-60mph, we would advise to take the bell tent down as this is very testing on the products, not matter how robust and our manufacturer warranty does not cover extreme weather damage.

We don’t have an exact wind pressure measurement for our bell tents unfortunately, but it's very important to would make sure this is in a settled area, as well as making sure that the guys ropes are tight and the pegs knocked completely into the ground.

Question:

Can your bell tents be used as a long term structure?

Answer:

Bell tents in general are designed to be used for leisurely purposes, we don't recommend erecting them as a permanent structure. However, many of our customers with glamping sites do use our tents throughout the summer months without many problems. It’s still very important to keep in mind that bell tents are not specifically designed as long term structures. Please note that if you do want to have the tents set up as long term structures, it's really important to clean and reproof as often as required. We recommend to clean and reproof every 4-6 weeks.

Please see the article on how to clean and reproof your tent here link

Also please keep in mind that bell tents in general are not designed for extreme weather conditions as all the weight and tension is taken by the centre pole. We have made this as robust as possible, however you will need to make sure the guy ropes are equally tensioned, and the centre pole is straight to ensure the best performance.

Question:

What fabric are your tents made from?

Answer:

In short, we offer three different fabrics which all have their own qualities. You can read more about our fabrics on our fabric guide link

Oxford/Weekender:

We were often asked by some of our regular customers if there was a fabric that was cost effective and hard wearing but would still give you the traditional look and feel of our traditional canvas tents. Oxford 230GSM is a thick, premium and waterproof synthetic man made polyester, perfect for weekend trips, festivals, garden glamping and events. As well as being quick drying and lighter than Cotton Canvas, it’s also more robust against rot, mould and mildew, making it the ideal choice for campers seeking a glam, stand-out tent, without taking on the additional care and upkeep associated with canvas. Alternatively, we have our Oxford UltraLite 100GSM range, The lightest ‘get up and go’ fabric in the range. With tents in this fabric weighing as little as 13KG, it’s particularly popular amongst busy families, regular festival goers, and party hire companies. The main advantages of this fabric are the quick drying, light weight and 0-no maintenance elements. As Oxford is a synthetic and non-breathable material, for safety and comfortability, we do not recommend stove installations. As with all polyester tents, condensation can naturally occur, so it is important to allow as much ventilation as possible.

Canvas/Polycotton:

A unique and well thought out cotton (65%) and polyester (35%) blend, designed with the needs and glamping goals of modern day campers, and campsite owners in mind. This is a versatile and breathable fabric, which has been treated with a water, UV, and rot repelling agent and for that, has an extremely successful proven track record amongst pro campers and large scale campsites. Weighing in lighter but just as traditional looking as our 100% Cotton, and heavier but just as practical as tents in our Oxford range. Alternatively, we also have our Canvas Lite range, which is around 6kg lighter in carry weight and provides quicker drying time with no compromise on quality or luxury. 200gsm PolyCotton Canvas obtains a perfect balance and claims the best qualities from both contrasting fabrics.

Fire Retardant Canvas/Cotton:

Our Fire Retardant Canvas/Cotton range are 100% cotton. New, improved and fire approved... This is Boutique's thickest and heaviest fabric, weighing in at an impressive 320gsm, which effectively increases robustness and subsequently reduces unwanted morning sunlight. Breathable, insulating and water resistant, our fire retardant canvas is made from 100% cotton and has the option to have an integrated stove hole for an easy and practical Wood Burning Stove installation.

Question:

Do you offer any discounts on your accessories?

Answer:

Yes, if you were looking to purchase an accessory with your tent, we will deduct 10% from the added item. This is for selected accessories only but includes, Stoves, Canopies & Awnings, Matting and much more. This discount will be automatically added when checking out on the website.

Questions:

Can I have a stove inside of a Canvas 285gsm/Canvas Lite 200gsm?

Answer:

The answer is simple, yes.

Although these are not Fire Retardant 100% cotton as the fire retardant range are, they are still a breathable material meaning that you can accommodate a stove inside of a canvas tent. You will need to use our flashing kit to cut the hole for the flue.

We hope this helps!

Question:

What are your bell tent protector covers made from?

Answer:

Our bell tent protector covers are made from polyester. They can protect your tents from rain, tree sap, leaves and sunlight. As this is made from polyester, this is a non-breathable fabric and we do not recommend using a stove with this.

Question:

What do your bell tents come with?

Answer:

Our bell tents come with everything you'll need in order to use the tent straight away.

This includes:

  • Tent Bag
  • Zipped in groundsheet
  • Pegs
  • Guy ropes
  • All poles
  • Mallet
  • Spares bag (seam sealant, spare guy ropes/pegs and a fabric swatch)

Question:

Can your bell tents be set up on sand/wooden base?

Answer:

All of our bell tents have been designed to be set up outside and in the ground, so this is the only way that we recommend. However if you do set up on sand, please note that we don't recommend this for overnight camping and this would be at your own discretion. If you were looking to have your tent up for longer than a day or in wet and windy weather conditions we would suggest buying sand pegs.

Alternatively, you can pitch the tents on a wooden base as long as there is enough space for the guy ropes to be stretched by at least 1m and pegged into the ground or drilled into the wooden base, however please note that this would be at your own discretion.

Question:

Do your bell tents have to be set up outside?

Answer:

Our bell tents have been designed to be set up outside and pegged into the ground, as this is the most secure set up. If you wish to set up in any other way please note that this would be at your own discretion. We do not recommend erecting tents in doors, all of our tents require being fitted firmly with the pegs and guy ropes provided. However, if you are happy to find a wooden platform that you could screw the pegs down into, ensuring there was enough of an overhang to allow the guy ropes to stretch a meter away from the tent, then it is possible.

Question:

How many years will your tent last?

Answer:

Our bell tents have been designed to last for years. However, we cannot guarantee this, as personal upkeep and maintenance is a huge factor, and usage of your tent can contribute to the lifespan of the canvas.

Maintenance and upkeep is essential to prolong the lifespan of the canvas. We highly advise making sure the tent is completely bone dry before packing away, to prevent mould from developing in the canvas as this can be tricky to get rid of. If you set up the tent as a semi-permanent structure, we would highly advise reproofing/cleaning as often as required, this would be roughly around every 4-6 weeks. Bell tents in general are designed for temporary use, so if you only use the tent for camping trips throughout the summer, reproofing/cleaning once a year should suffice. Please see the maintenance guide below for further information: link

Question:

What are your payment options?

Answer:

Question:

How do I clean/reproof my tent?

Answer:

We highly recommend using our Nikwax products to clean and reproof the tent yourself.

Canvas: For canvas/polycotton tents, we advise to use Nikwax Tech Wash to clean the product then Nikwax Cotton Proof can be used to reproof your tent.

Polyester: For our polyester tents, we advise to use Nikwax Tent and Gear Solarwash to clean the product and then to use Nikwax Tent and Gear Solarproof to reproof your tent.

Question:

Will I get condensation inside my tent?

Answer:

Condensation can occur in non-breathable fabrics, such as our Polyester and Oxford tents, and this is completely normal. Ventilation can prevent and reduce the amount of condensation that you have in your tent. You can open up the sides during the day (when it’s not raining) to allow some air to flow through, and some of our customers like to use inner tents to reduce any condensation leaking inside the tent.

The next step is to pass all details to your courier and they can collect from our warehouse and ship accordingly.

Question:

How many half-moon mattings will I need to cover the tent floor?

Answer:

As our half-moon matting's are half moon or semi-circle, you will need to purchase two of the half moons for your size tent.

For example, if you have a 4m tent, you will need to purchase 2x 4m half moon mattings to cover the entire footprint. If looking to purchase matting's for our Emperor or Tucana tents, please get in contact and an advisor will confirm the amount you will need.
